VICTOR HILL

Well-Known Member
Relationship to Diabetes
Type 1
Looking at the news on tv today , a young girl in Norwich is playing football with the most up to date insulin pump , which can take blood sugars and auto adjustment of insulin to suit the body at the time of great energy use ie playing football, run ,tackle ,score goals ,for well over 90 mis and not worry she will go low or high CARBS wise
now go back to 1958
me playing football in Richmond PARK only thing i can do is take less insulin before the game while i can still run kick, tackle and score goals also can take some form sugar
and do this for 120 mins
now to check for sugar will have to wait for the school bus to return me home
and then check by clinic test tablets 5 drops of urine ten drops of water in a test tube wait a min, check colour blue good orange full of sugar ..
now just see what science has done ref insulin purity off space program has helped to
what will happen in the next 60 years Vic Hill 62 years on INSULIN

Aye times have changed, change isn't always a bad thing, stem cell artificial pancreas non evasive bg testing is the future.

The options available today are a world away aren’t they Victor!

Yes Vic, not that I was T1 as a child though but I was lucky there. Thinking our loud from that - how on earth will people including us of course - celebrate the centenary of the instigation of insulin treatment in a couple of years time?

I most certainly fully intend to do that, Victor - exactly as I have always tried to do and so have you - and since it's been successful for me in excess of 47 years by now, I can see no reason why that should suddenly change cos I'm still as determined as I ever was. I have always accepted that SH 1 T happens on occasions in everyone's life whether they have diabetes or not and to overcome that it's also normal for some thing or body to have to change in order to sort it and am also fully aware that when it's some body - it can as easily be me that has to, as it can anyone else. I wouldn't even want to be perfect, let alone claim to be!

I've always wanted to know any of the dogs' identities - at least the breed(s) if not the name(s) - but I've never found a record of that detail. Think of the price they had to pay - their lives to save mine, yours and everyone else they've helped. I'd kind of like to know all I owe my life to - not just the humans - in order to be able to express my personal gratitude more fully somehow.
