Finally the results of the blood tests are in although the "mystery appointment (overlapping with Podiatry next week) is still there!

Everything is fine bar two U&Es results. Whilst my eGFR has improved futher to 72% after the horrendous 36% of a year ago both Serum Potassium (nobody say 'K' please) and Serum Urea are out of range.

Serum Potassium 5.4 - normal range 3.5 to 5.3
Serum Urea 8.9 (8.1 six months ago) - normal range 2.5 to 7.8

Any experience or thoughts on this. Obviously I will talk to a medical professional on this (probably a GP as my next Diabetes Clinic, already moved from November to December, was cancelled by text message yesterday and no further date given).

A quick hunt around reliable interweb sources suggests cutting out bananas (irrelevant as never eat them as intolerant to the specific protein in them). Obviously I can drink more water but the idea things like cutting out berries, the occasional orange, spinach, broccoli (already given up sprouts), etc. is slightly worrying!

Just had a thought - is that why I got an odd result with the urine test strips I cannot interpret? (querying emoji)

It could be because you have been on antibiotics that serum urea is higher or from a high protein diet, carrots and potatoes as well as some herbs and spices can help reduce it. Staying hydrated as well. Potassium is only just over so may not be of too much concern but I'm sure your GP will discuss it (possibly)
