I di put this in another thread yesterday but it got lost there so decided to start a new topic.

There is a DUK funded project which will be complete next year. It is a carb counting course for children run on similar lines to DAFNE.
I know parents do not have much support at the moment and have to self teach and then pass it on to their children as they get older. Let's hope this project is rolled out to all clinics and hospitals when it is finished.

Thank you cherrypie.

I'm glad they are doing this it sounds like it could be good - the trouble is these things take years to get up and running - think my K will qualify for DAFNE before this but hopefully it will benefit others one day.

Perhaps this needs to go in 'links' too ?

Great links Cherrypie , i think we must be very lucky round here as i know one of our local hospital do a DAFNE 'type ' course for under 16's

I must admit I am flabbergasted that it's only now being looked into! Hopefully it won't take too long to get approval and rollout to wherever it is needed 🙂

Well they don't have to get all the principles agreed to the degree that DAFNE did because they are already established, and the Establishment already know that it's being taught already on an informal basis, based on DAFNE principles.

So they are already 10 steps ahead (at least) aren't they? - one would hope it's more of a 'tick box exercise' getting approval than DAFNE ever was .....
