Docs- does anyone know the order number that I need for the keter testing strips[roche] 50 in a pot.Docs just rang me back - he had had a personality transplant I think and wasnt at all condescending-but hasnt got a listing for them.- he did say that none of his type1 patients had these on perscription -of course I said that we had been very well trained by our team and nos over 15 always needed to be tested/ maybe sign of infection etc and we would continue with our good practice-
pipe and smoke it springs to mind!!!!!!!

Do you mean blood ketone strips? As far as I know there is only the one type available, for the Optium Xceed meter, and they come in packs of 10. They are individually foil sealed and in a cardboard box, not a pot, so I may be talking about something completely different to what you want!

Do you mean ketone test strips? The blood ones or the urine ones? I didn't think that Roche did a blood ketone testing machine. I have an Abbott Optium Xceed meter and get blood ketone strips for that - there are 10 in a box.

well on the pot it says
An accu-check product
Ketur-test
ketones
50 tests
for wee to be blunt

Oh sorry, didn't realise you meant the wee ones. Can't help I'm afraid - we haven't used those for years as ketones take hours to show up in the urine, by which time you could already be in DKA if you're on a pump. Blood ketone tests tell you what your current ketone levels are, so much more useful for managing highs and illness. If you wanted to give them a try, your DSN should be able to give you a meter and your GP can prescribe the strips.

Ah! The ones I have prescribed are called Ketostix, made by Bayer. I can't find any Accuchek ones. Pip Code for ketostix is 0147-264

Thanks redkite we do have blood ones too and meter takes them but tend to use wee ones say if running high after sport before bed. like to have both in - Thanks Northerner -at least I know he wasnt telling porkies when he said he couldnt find them!!
As long as they test the wee not bothered who makes them- he said he would speak to the doctors pharmacist to get an equivalent-at least he was helpful -dont think I would have taken a no somehow

I think Roche have discontinued the Ketur-Test strips now - standard practice is to offer Ketostix. These have been on the market since at least 1998 as I had these right when I was dxed.

Bayer ones are all I've ever had for all the time I've been D.

I don't have a code just a box I could send you a pic of to show to your doc, I don't have any spare I could give you

Thanks all- lets see what the docs come up with - at least I know Bayer name so I can tell them if needed- to be fair at least they were helpful!!! and thanks Laura we still have a pot in date- it was more a case of them taking it off the perscription I was ready for battle!
