Evening all...sorry to keep posting new threads, but just got my prescription ( Finally) got inhalers yay...i can breath at last lol...so also got my bg strips....so any ways i got back and thought i will do a random test which was 4.30 pm i ate chicken breast with salad...and i no from previous readings 2 hour before and after i am always in the 5.0 to 7.0 ...so i ate at 2.30 and as i said tested at 4.30 well it came up at 15.9....but for the first time my meter was flashing ketones...as i said in previous threads felt a bit glitchy lately...it's probably nothing to worry about, but my levels have been good since taking meds but i noticed not feeling right for the last 2 weeks...am i just being stupid? 😱

Some meters do prompt you to test for ketones when blood sugar levels go above a certain point. Really, it's for people on insulin, as ketones plus a high BG level can indicate not enough insulin circulating and there is a risk of a dangerous state called DKA (diabeteic ketoacidosis). This can be extremely serious. As a T2 not on insulin you are very unlikely to be at risk of DKA.

If your levels were 15 then it's possible that your levels have generally beeen higher than you thought, and the reason why you have been feeling rotten - some pre and post meal tests, plus waking tests are needed to see where things are at 🙂
