Hi its me again I'm still not doing great, problems after covid back in December, but ketones still a concern, I can get ketones of over 1.00 around 4 hours after eating , I always have around 40 to 70 carbs each meal x 3 times aday, blood sugar pretty stable I don't get ketones if levels go up, so what I'm saying if I didn't eat regularly it would be worse, I'm still worried about it, endo says don't keep testing but they make me feel unwell and nauseous when I get them, and I have to force myself to eat sometimes but I do eat regularly, I'm type 1 on novorapid and levemir, I don't know what to make f it, if anyone can through new light on this I would be really grateful as I find it scary thanks in advance to you all out there

What are your BG readings when you test for ketones? A ketone level over 1.6 puts you at a small risk of DKA. (Mine were 6+ when I had a holiday in the local hospital last year, tied with a BG of 29 even though I hadn’t eaten anything for 24 hours). To a degree, it can be affected by the type of food you eat.

So the next question is what are you eating? The normal level, by the way, is 0.6 for regular folk.

Hi thanks for reply, My blood sugars can be from 5 to 10 mmols when I get them, I tested ketones an hour after meal tonight, blood sugar 9.4. Ketones 0.8. I just don't understand as sugars not high when I get them, I know there not dangerous levels, but confused what to do, I get very cold hands and feel nauseous when they start to rise , I always know, and cant be starvation ones as I've just eaten, and I eat regular meals with carbs, not on low carb, I take regular insulin, NovoRapid and Levemir , hope someone can help as consultant just says don't test them with normal blood sugars, but I go over what they recommend and end up around 1.00 or slightly more every day.
