Ketone monitor help urgent

Hi

The cwd email list is not busy and needs some help for another friend please.

She is out with her 13 year old daughter who is type 1, her first email was :

'What does e-6 mean on the monitor b4 any blood on it? '


She then emailed :

'we put blood on it and it said 0.6 but don't know if thats right. Her bloods were 32 but now down to 21.'

I told her the 0.6 was ok for ketones but someone has just told me that e-6 means bad strip. Anyone else?

It means test strip error and you should try again.

Also it says if it happens again: Repeat the calibration by using the calibration bar that came with that strip. check the date setting on your meter & check the expiration date of the strips .

All ok and levels down to 8.4 and zero ketones. Very lucky considering what happened with Alex this week.
