I have read a number of books by Kate Atkinson and found them varied and engrossing. I havent spent enough time engrossed in a book for more than a year. I've read a few novels in Spanish which I do slowly and some non fiction books. However I intend to put time aside to read productively the many great books I haven't started. Yesterday I heard a programme on radio 4 which was some music and Kate reading from her novels. It trailed the drama I listened to today ( first part )

I don't know how I missed this book. It is a tragicomedy effectively set in Yorkshire, the museum referred to being York museum but includes many places between 1890 to 1990.
I'm going to relisten as I was driving for some of it. The episode I have listened to starts with Ruby who is yet to be born narrating. Although she is older than me it is definitely my generation and the writer 's powers of observation and imagination are impressive. The episode includes the Somme and her watching the Coronation of Queen Elizabeth
