So before being diagnosed as being diabetic I used to on occasion break out itchy on my body sometimes all over, have also known to get hives etc.. after being diagnosed as diabetic last year the consultant told my thyroid wasn't as it should be and they would keep an eye on it.... started to feel cold a lot when it's warm mentioned to consultant and was told thyroid was working harder but doing ok, appear to be itchy a lot on and off... I know people say don't Google but Google has said this could be a thyroid issue I don't want to keep pestering and asking them but is it worthwhile going back to the doctors and questioning again? Has anyone any experience of this?

Hi I have an underactive thyroid. I can't seem to regulate my body temperature and often feel cold when it's warm or warm when it's cold. I also itch constantly. Especially if I forget to take my thyroxine (which I often do )

I was diagnosed with underactive thyroid before diabetes. I also have coeliacs disease. Autoimmune diseases are also known to come in clusters, so if you have one then you're more likely to get another.

Yeah the consultant did say in hospital that the issue could be I had been unwell and it could go back to normal on its own.. but the symptoms say its my thyroid but I mentioned the cold thing to him and doc and he told me it's not my thyroid some ppl are just cold all the time.. didn't mention the itchiness I just wondered if it was worth making an appt to see about it again and mentioning the itching along with feeling the cold more.

Hi Stacey,
I also have underactive thyroid and type 2 diabetes which were diagnosed around the same time. I've found the thyroid uk website forums very helpful when trying to make sense of it all. It's very complex and can be difficult to get your head round but, as on the diabetes uk forum, there are some very knowledgeable and helpful people who will try to help you. I hope you get some answers.
