Here's my (not very scientific) take on these last set of results...

Based on your stability overnight with the previous set I'm inclined to see the 10.1 to 11.4 as probably more meter error/variation than a 'real' rise.

It took a good hour for your correction to start kicking in, but I see that too so I'm not entirely surprised (though you'd want a few more tests when correcting really before you rely on that else you might suddenly find you've dropped like a stone on another occasion).

The 5.15am test suggests that 1u is bringing you down approx 3mmol/L over 4-5 hours. This is a useful bit of info to use/check with future corrections.

You had another fairly substantial rise at or around 8am. This is beginning to look like a 'liver dump'/'Dawn Phenom' pattern. You might consider working out how much of a rise you are 'usually' getting and bolusing immediately on rising for that amount (or just adding a slice to your breakfast dose to account for this rise on top of whatever food you are eating).

I don't think your D is a mess at all. It looks like you've *very* nearly cracked it!

11AM BG 11.0

So looking at the above: No carbs, only Lev on board and even though you woke in a good range by 11am you've gone up 4mmol/L

So...

Even if you don't eat anything it might be worth considering/cautiously experimenting with bolusing 1u first thing. Or if you are eating breakfast adding 1u to whatever you work out your dose to be (blah-many units for a slice of toast, plus 1u for Mr Liver). The purpose of the 1u is purely to look after the glucose released from your liver in the first few hours of your waking day. Injecting at the breakfast table would be fine (it's not minute critical). But on days where I'm not having breakfast until much later I need to have a small amount of rapid just after getting up to stop my BGs rising until breakfast/brunch is ready.

If you decide to experiment with the approach just make sure you do so on days where you aren't driving, and can test easily mid morning just so you can test and see what happens. Always best to be cautious, just in case (for example) your liver doesn't release any early morning glucose on days when you *do* eat breakfast or whatever.

Does that make any sense?
