Relationship to Diabetes
Type 1
Hi everybody,

I'm new here decided to sign up after reading a few posts and could see what a good supportive community it is, don't know anybody with diabetes so I thought it'd be great to talk with people who are like minded and going through similar things.

I was diagnosed with type 1 diabetes back in July after collapsing with DKA I was sent for some blood tests had been feeling unwell and I collapsed afterwards and was rushed to hospital. It was a scary time but i'm moving on and learning to cope.

Look forward to speaking with you all.
Kate

Hello Kate welcome. Others will be along later. It sounds as though you've had a pretty rough time.
Feel free to ask questions, people here will do their best to help.

Hi Kate, welcome to the forum 🙂 The reason this forum was originally set up was because the person behind it had been Type 1 for over 30 years and never known another Type 1, so you are precisely why we exist, to exchange experiences, tips and advice 🙂 So please, if you have any questions or concerns, let us know - no question is considered 'daft'! 🙂 What insulin regime are you on? DKA is horrible, I had that at diagnosis too :( Had you known anything might be wrong until you fell really ill? I had thought it was just a bad stomach bug!

I look forward to hearing more from you 🙂

Morning Kate and welcome to the forum.

Hello Kate, welcome to the forum. They're a right happy bunch here, dunno what I'd do without this place. 🙂

Afternoon Kate a warm welcome from me

Hello and welcome Kate 🙂 Glad you found us.

I hope you are feeling much better after your very frightening experience with DKA. It takes a while for things to get back to equilibrium after diagnosis.

This forum is a fabulous place for help, support and talking to others who 'get' diabetes.
