Hi Gus,

I'm a Type 2 on metformin the same as you.

Sorry to hear that you are being badly treated. How do you manage your diabetic situation? Why not tell us a little bit about yourself. You'll get a lot of help from people on this forum.

Best wishes - John

Hi Gus, welcome to the forum, I'm sure you'll find great answers to your questions here, it's JUST the place to ask anything at all.

Sorry to hear you're getting the rough end of the stick from the NHS - sadly you're not the first and I doubt you'll be the last, although some on here are lucky enough to receive great treatment.

xx

Hi Gus and welcome! When I helped run a support group I found a number of people with Type II did not get the service they should have. Quotes like "You have mild diabetes" or similar are unhelpful and show the person does not understand the problem. You need a good GP, and maybe team, who understand that it is a serious condition as complications can occur especially where the condition has been undiagnosed for a longish period and/or the control is bad. Good luck and do not be afraid to ask questions.

Hi Gus, welcome to the forum 🙂 I was diagnosed Type 2, 4 months ago and put on metformin as well.

No questions are daft ones on here - this is a great forum and the people are really helpful 🙂

Cazscot: you say you were diagnosed 4 months ago Type 2 and put on metformin. What was your first Aic result? i am just wondering at what level it has be before they decide to put you on medication as my DN said that depending on my Aic is what they will base my treatment on, my first one is in Jan.

Mine got as high as 9.4% over a period of eight years before they prescribed metformin.

I wouldn't have let it get that high if I'd known then what I know now!
