Welcome to the forum
Sorry to hear that your diagnosis came about due to having DKAs, that must have been very scary for you and your family. It is quite unusual for Type 2 to be in that situation so I am wondering if they have ruled out a Type 1 diagnosis.
What medications have you been prescribed as having appropriate ones should help you manage your blood glucose. It may also determine what dietary measures you need to be taking, It may seem hard at first to be reducing your carbohydrate intake but there are still plenty of foods you can have which will be even tastier than all those high carb foods.
How long ago did this happen and how have you been managing since. What was your HbA1C as that will indicate how much work you will need to do.

Welcome @Hardtoaccept Are you on insulin? Are they sure you’re Type 2 not Type 1? If you can tell us a little more that would be helpful 🙂

I hope you’re recovered from your DKA now. It’s a scary thing to have and it sounds like you’ve had a very stressful time.

Sorry to hear what a tough time you have been having. DKA can be an awful thing to go through.

It may be helpful to ask about GAD antibody checks, and getting your cPeptide measured. These can help show if your diabetes is autoimmune in nature and how much insulin-production you still have. I think that DKA generally occurs as a result of absolute insulin deficiency - so as @Inka says you may need to be on injected insulin, and could have a different type of diabetes if T2 has been assigned largely down to your age.
