Well here goes, I take this opportunity to say hello to all members of the forum and I hope that you bwill dear with me because I have got other issues apart form diabetes. I have also got problems with my diabetic diet in the shape of gingernut biscuits which I cannot put them down when I have a cup of coffee.
I will leave it now and if any issue comes up in the forums that I have. I shall get talking. Thank you and good night. I will start to explore the site and forum. Tomorrow as I will have more tomb.

Welcome @Oldman1952 and when you are ready ask away, PS think you know what we would all recommend re the ginger biscuits lol x

Hi and welcome

Could we persuade you to re-educate your palette and swap your gingernut addiction for something more diabetic friendly... perhaps nuts or olives or cheese or all three. Maybe swap your coffee for a glass of wine so that you don't crave the biscuits so much....cheese and wine sounds so much better than coffee and gingernuts.😉
I am currently changing my tastes and swapping my sweet tooth for more suitable alternatives and I can assure you that there was no one worse than me. Even if I didn't buy sweets (I had been trying to reduce my addiction for a while prior to diagnosis), I would make a batch of fudge from whatever I had in the fridge/cupboards or eat a tin of condensed milk with a spoon or tip sugar into a can of evaporated milk.... Believe me I was "a heavy user".... and I stopped it over night after diagnosis! I am now 5 months down the line, have lost a load of weight and feel so much better for it. I am currently teaching myself to drink coffee without sweetener and I am getting there. Having cream instead of milk in it definitely helps!
Good luck getting control of your diet and blood glucose.

Hi Barbara, one of the problems is I lack the ability to control my eating and sometimes if someone goes on about me eating my favourite biscuits I don't care because I do not have self control. If I want something I just get it and eat it blow the consequences. It is part of one of my syndromes connected with my brain and its disfunction. Oldman1952.

Do you have self control in other areas of life or just in respect of eating? I guess I lacked the will to impose self control until my diagnosis meant I had to!
What happens if the biscuits are removed from the house/not bought?
Could you give up the coffee and therefore perhaps alter your desire for the biscuits.
Do you bake or can you learn to bake and find a low carb recipe for ginger nut biscuits and bake them yourself so that you at least limit the damage?

May I offer this advice:
1. Go to supermarket.
2. Do not buy gingernuts.
3. Return home.
4. Have glass of wine.
5. Feel very pleased with your self!

Good luck - It all comes good in the end.

Hello and welcome to the forum. 🙂

Watch scary documentaries like I do. It keeps me on the straight and narrow at least for a short while. 🙄 The one where the fella had his leg off this week freaked me out. Then at the end one of the other people taking part had popped off! 😱 It is very hard to get a handle on it, but we must. My feet are already hurting and my eyes are already bleeding, my spleen is knackered, how many more hints do I need? o_O

Hello @Oldman1952 welcome to the forum.🙂 Gingernuts, my brother has ginger hair which probably means he has ginger nuts, certainly wouldn`t eat them.😳:D Sorry folks just slipped out. Hey mate when I was first diagnosed I was a biscuit addict cupboard was full of them, I had diabetics nurses come to my home for 10 days to make sure my levels were dropping. After reading from this forum I realised I was doing it all wrong, meter was still reading HI so I asked the nurses to sort out my food cupboard, fridge and freezer.:( Guess what sod all left except ice cubes and they were in the oven,😎 moral of the story get a grip or it will get a grip on you, its your diabetes take control.
