 so long. I remember her being a new singer. I'm too old :(

It is often said in diabetes forums that we are all different.
Turns out the difference is not just how our blood sugars react to food and exercise. It is also about music.
I am glad you are happy about Mariah but I shall be avoiding the radio.

Well it's just a jolly sounding Christmassy song, sung by someone with a half decent voice.

I enjoy many many types of music from Gilbert & Sullivan to Kiri Te Kanawa via Elgar, Vivaldi, Stefan Grappelli and Yehudi Menouin, the Byrds and dear ole Maddy Prior and The Pogues, Stones, Who, Beatles, Dylan, The Eagles, Hymns, Psalms, Sliding a gong on the chest of a slave, rondos for children and all sorts, literally, practically ALL !

Can't beat the (unabridged) version of Fairy Tale of New York in my opinion. Also as a melancholy soul I like the Chris de Burgh ( Spaceman) one and David Essex- Winters Tale. Also, although not a religious bone in my body, most traditional carols

I'm not keen on Mariah Carey but i like that song, always find myself singing along with a smile on my face.
As we can't have a nativity at school this year, we have recorded our class singing. Bought tears to my eyes, they were really good.

Can't abide song, switch off when on radio, same league as last Christmas by Wham, fair play to her it makes small fortune year after year.

Great choice, Winters Tale lovely song written by womble man Mike Batt, wife likes video thinks David is handsome.

Oooh yes! - so that's taken over my brain now. Always liked looking at David Essex anyway. Sadly Mike Batt never fell into that category - bit too chunky for my liking LOL

I’ve always loved Mariah Carey’s “All I Want...” but in secret...until now! It’s just so upbeat. :D

I loved Mike Batt. I had posters of him on my wall and he was on my school bag,
His Mum used to shop for his “clothes” where my Mum worked.
I have no idea how she managed to sew all that fur together but it was worth it.
Orinoco was my favourite Womble. 😛

Mariah Carey’s song is brilliant. I have danced around my kitchen with all my grandchildren to her song and loved it. My all time favourite though is Chris area’s Driving home for Christmas

Pete was watching some fishing video on You Tube and then clicked on the thumbnail of the pic of a roaring log fire - it is a SEVEN hour vid of just the fire, and Carols.

Rejoice, Rejoice Emmanuel (love it) followed by Ding Dong Merrily. Just crying as O Little Town plays ... soppy old bat.

Great song, cheers ya up everytime you hear it, dance with Martin & Lionel class act.

It's odd the way certain music can trigger such emotions

Some of my favourite carols are The Holly and the Ivy, In the Bleak Midwinter ( Holst version),It came Upon the Midnight Clear ( Arthur sullivan), God Rest Ye Merry Gentleman, Joy to the World, I saw three ships come sailing in, the Sussex Carol and the Coventry Carol- very haunting and sombre. The list goes on and on...

I once saw Chris Rea driving home. He was three cars in front of us coming off the Mull to Oban Ferry. Wasn’t Christmas, mind, and was with his family. Personalised registration, so immediately went down in my estimation.
Maybe he was on the Road To Hell.

Well for those who like the song but not fans of Mariah, there is always the My Chemical Romance version.

Or, if you want something a little less upbeat, how about Radiohead's creep to All I want for Christmas

trophywench - I LOVE THAT SONG and was delighted that it's hit number one (whatever that actually means these days). By coincidence we were decorating the Christmas tree yesterday, and as is tradition in our house going through our Christmas CDs. Buble had a turn, and for the first time I realised that he does a version of it, which is weird because I've heard it many times but because it sounds so different I just hadn't connected it was the same song. But yes, Mariah belting it out always makes me smile (and likely jiggle a bit).
