Relationship to Diabetes
Type 2
Hi....I'm Ian, 40 year old male, diagnosed with Type 2 late December 09. Currently on Metaformin 500g twice a day. I've finally got my dates through for my Diabetes Education Programme for the end of March but I've been told that I've got to wait 12 weeks for an appointment to see an Eye Specialist at Addenbrookes even though it was my optician who identified the problem in the first place!

I look forward to hearing from others.

Regards

Ian

Hi Ian welcome to the forum🙂 Good news that you have quickly got a date for an education programme, but 12 weeks for the eye specialist seems a long time. What did your optician say when he suggested diabetes? Sometimes, your eyesight can become very poor when your blood sugar levels are high, but this is only temporary and should return to normal. I would imagine if there was longer term problems then they would have called you in earlier so it may just be for retinal screening - hope so.

Hi Ian and a warm welcome to the forum

Hello Ian,
Welcome. I'm type 1 so my knowledge of type 2 is limited. I'm sure you will get a lot of help from the numerous helpful type 2's on this site and by reading the many posts on the topics of interest.

Hi Ian - Welcome to the forum!

I was diagnosed with Type 2 over nine years ago and I'm doing just fine. I'm on metformin like you.

You'll learn a lot from using these diabetes forums.

Any questions then just ask.

Good luck and best wishes - John
