Just got the diagnosis today - Type 2

Its been a while coming but finally got the Type 2 diagnosis today. Saw the nurse at the surgery and handed the bunch of leaflets. Thankfully already knew about this site so have wasted no time in registering. Looking forward to talking with you and asking lots of questions. Now 3 months of "lifestyle changes" to look forward to.

Hi Techknitter, welcome to the forum 🙂 Sorry to hear about the diagnosis - have you had impaired glucose tolerance for a while or has there been some other indicator that you might expect a diagnosis?

Have a look at the Useful links thread if you have not already done so, for some good reading material. Have you been put on any medication?

Yes had GTT done last year but this came in under the wire. No medication as yet - they'll see in 3 months' time how diet and exercise have made a difference. I did purchase a glucometer a few months back and it was random testing off my own bat (18) that triggered the repeat fasting test at the GP. This came out as 10.4, not as high as some posts I've read but obviously high enough to be able to join the club. Need to lose quite a bit of weight so I'll check out the other forums for hints and tips.
