At my first checkup (when diagnosed) it was 91

Just rang and got my results from my latest a week ago, its now in the "good" range, they are very happy.

It was a *drum roll* much better figure of 44.

So all the hard work I have done in dieting (over 2 stone now) and changing my lifestyle completely (still missing fizzy sweets though) has really helped !!

The advisor at my doctors on the results line was very happy for me and I gotta be honest, I am beaming and have text everyone and told them lol !!

Next step for me now I think will be to speak to the DN about possibility of reducing my medication.

Super well done things are looking good NM

Well done for those great results

Well done you

Well done

That's great news. Well done!

thanks everyone. I'm super pleased as you can imagine. And it has given me an added boost to work harder........

I said at the start that in some perverse way I was ok about getting diabetes, cos after being a yo yo dieter for 15 years of my life this has now given me the necessary kick up the arse to make a proper, permanent lifestyle change.

Well done great work and results

Great!

What are your day to day BGs looking like though, and how much help from meds is that BG getting at the mo? You're only taking Metformin - so not an awful lot is the answer, since Met does nothing to assist your insulin production, just helps fight back against the insulin resistance. However, it may be possible to reduce it somewhat, but you'd have to test to make sure you still maintain the success you're getting now.

Hi trophywench.

My blood sugars daily are pretty good, this morning (and most mornings) they are at low 6's. I can feel when they go a bit lower - I feel weird if they are any lower than 5.3 for instance (not sure what the lower end of the scale is for 'normal').

I haven't really broken my self imposed fast, apart for one night when I went for a curry with the missus (the day before she started her diet) but I didn't eat much rice and had more chicken that juice with my currys. Did go wild on the popadoms though lol !!

Even that night my blood was only 8.4 when testing 2 hours after.

My surgery doesn't give machines out to test your BG, so I bought the one that everyone on here recommended. Went through 2 weeks of 5 times a day testing to build up an idea of what affected me and then just test randomly now (still maybe once or twice a day) or when I feel like I should, or if I want to see if something is actually affecting me - like the curry night).

You've obviously worked hard. Well done.

You have worked very hard and earned those excellent results. Well done and you should feel very proud of yourself. You have shown that it can be done. 🙂
