Just dropping by to say good morning once again. Sadly off work again today. I am even worse than yesterday. 😱 I got up this morning at 5.45am to get ready for work. By 6.45am I was still in my jammies struggling between coughs and sneezes. I gave up and texted my colleague who picks me up to say don't pick me up, I'm too I'll to go in to work. I went back to bed but was up 10 minutes later because I was coughing too much and must have been disturbing hubby. Oh the joys!!! 😱

I hope you are feeling better soon. I find plenty of warm sugar free drinks help and if you don't feel like eating much soup is nice.

Sorry to hear this Cat :( It's better to stay at home if you are feeling like this - better than spreading the infection amongst your workmates and hopefully you will recover more quickly. Get well soon! 🙂

Thanks for your kind wishes. I went back to bed and got up at 2pm. Had some toast. Not the best start to the weekend.

miracles happen at weekends and you'll have a fantastic weekend

All the sneezing and coughing are really killing me today. My ribs are so sore...ouch! :(

Day 3 with this lurgy and I am not even feeling a bit better. It's been a long time since I've ever been this ill. I was hoping to get out today but no chance of that. And I still have little or no voice. Apart from that I'm pretty hunky dory...lol :D

Aw Cat :( I hope that by this time tomorrow you are able to tell us how much better you are feeling! 🙂

Not going to hold my breath Northerner. I was up at 4am coughing my head off. i ended up sitting in the living room watching TV as i didn't want to disturb hubby. I was able to go back to bed at 7am when the cough calmed down. To top it off its a beautiful sunny day up here and i'm stuck indoors.

Ah well day 6 with the lurgy and have still not shaken it yet. I've got a rather nasty cough now. I phoned my surgery this morning and asked for an appointment only to be told appointments left are for emergencies only. I was given an appointment for 7.40am tomorrow morning. On a brighter note I phoned my work as I have done every day and my boss told me not to worry about my sickness absence levels as the last time I was off sick was March 2012. He did say however the team had commented that my absence had certainly not affected my productivity!!!! It took me ages to get that one :D :D :D

Hope you got the appointment. I find a nice hot shower and plenty of warm drinks help me till I getto see the doctor. Hope you're better soon

Thanks Caroline. This is the first time something like this has affected me so badly. I was actually feeling a bit better last night and thought to myself that I could probably manage in to work this morning. I got up at 6am and was only up a few minutes and realised quickly I am no where near well enough to go to work. I went back to bed and spent an hour coughing and just got fed up coughing and got back up and phoned the surgery. I'm thinking that an antibiotic is probably the answer now that it appears to have gone into my chest.

Looking for some advice. I have had this cold/flu whatever it is no for 6 days as mentioned earlier. In all honesty I am feeling as rubbish as I was feeling on day 1. My daughter came home from school and looked at me and said what's that smell? Now I'm so full of whatever it is I've got I can't taste or smell anything. I have been looking online and not found any answers. I asked her what she thought the smell was and she said it's just a sicky smell and that there was no smell yesterday. As explained earlier I don't know how this is affecting my blood glucose but can't imagine being sick for 6 days now is doing it any good. I was very very thirsty early on today. I have an appointment to see my GP tomorrow morning. Should I wait till tomorrow or should I go to our GP emergency service at our A&E. just concerned after my daughter commented about the sicky smell.

What sort of sicky smell?

The more critical thing is to ask her "does your breath smell like nail varnish remover"?

If the answer to that question is yes, then you go straight to A+E

I asked her what kind of sicky smell. She said it wasn't a sweet sicky smell. Just the kind of sicky smell you get when you visit people in hospital!! Whatever that means. So I know I don't need to rush off to A&E. Thanks

NHS24 sent me to our GP emergency out of hours clinic. I have a viral infection with a secondary infection. The doctor gave me antibiotics. Thankfully I should be feeling better soon 🙂

Take care of yourself Cat and hang on in there. The drugs should have you back to your old self in a few days.

Thank you LeeLee, hopefully the antibiotics will kick in in a day or two and I'll be feeling tip top x. :D
