42Welcome @tomp 🙂 Do you know what your HbA1C was (the number of the blood test that diagnosed you with Type 2 diabetes)?
Here’s some basic information about Type 2:
Type 2 diabetes
Type 2 diabetes is high blood sugar levels due to your body not making enough of a hormone called insulin, or the insulin it makes not working properly — known as insulin resistance. High blood sugar levels over time can cause other health problems like heart attacks and strokes, as well as...www.diabetes.org.uk
We are learning together. Other medical issues were/are improving for me. All looked good. By pure chance my sugars were tested by pure chance approx 4 weeks ago. Like you. I ate well. Not a big sweet/biscuit eater. Rarely drink. Small portions. My weight maintained. General bloods checked quarterly and good. Now told that I am pre-diabetic. My reading was 43.
Who told you that you have diabetes? Your HbA1c puts you into the 'at risk of diabetes' range, sometimes called 'prediabetes' which is 42-47.I have just been diagnoses stage 2 after a blood test.I am shocked as I eat healthy and do Pilates and go on excercise bike. Don’t know which way to turn as it seems yet another medical condition to add to the list
Thank youOk. 42 is pre-diabetes (48 is diabetes) so it should mean that you only need to make a few small, sustained changes to bring that down. These are generally reducing carbs, losing weight if you need to, and increasing exercise.

If that's the case then your doctor is wrong and it might be worth a call to ask why you've been told that you have diabetes rather than prediabetes. Is it possible that you misheard what was said?Doctor
What’s your plan of action going forward.what other health issues do you have,I have diverticulitis had one knee replacement waiting for another so excercise is difficult.had heart attack 10 years ago.also dizzy spells waiting for anMriWe are learning together. That's understandable. My diagnosis was less of a shock for me as my mother had T2 and my sister (72) has been 'at risk' for a while, so once I started having symptoms I pretty well knew what was coming.I might have done I was in such shock and panic

Just been looking how to change my diet after eating what I thought was healthy before…I am totally confusedOriginally a rare form of kidney disease. Rheumatoid arthritis. Immune system
Still here. The consultant is happy how I survive and after decades my meds are being reduced. But I am only as good as the next bloods that are taken across the year. This sugar test came out of the blue.
One prescription drug I am on can be an issue regarding the onset of diabetes with long term use.
They say that they will test me again a year. Unknown to me I found out I had been tested for my sugar numbers four years ago. Not told or what the results were.
Will take a look thanks so confused at the moment as I thought I was eating good before no processed very little cakes biscuits etc drinking water onlyYes just in the prediabetes zone so some modest changes should be all that is needed. Many people feel they eat a 'healthy' diet but there are some foods which people who have problems coping with carbohydrates should be cautious of.
Have a look at this link and you will see there are plenty of foods you can eat https://lowcarbfreshwell.com/
Just reducing portion size of the high carb foods should be sufficient, certainly no need to panic.
Don’t we need carbohydrates for our musclesWill take a look thanks so confused at the moment as I thought I was eating good before no processed very little cakes biscuits etc drinking water only
What do you eat and drink?I eat healthy
