Just been out for dinner at a rather nice restaurant, the Guildhall Tavern, in Poole with some (early dining) friends. Having ordered, gave myself my insulin about 15 mins before the food arrived. Had monkfish with a crayfish tail sauce, a largish new potato and some chips and carrots. Normally that amount of potato and carrot would send me into overdrive, unless I had the insulin at least 45 mins before. Having looked at the dessert menu, decided to abstain. Then, with the benefit of my cgm I could see things going floorwards so ordered a sweet, and gave myself a little insulin. The sweet was rather spectacular - a dark chocolate sphere filled with pear and ginger sorbet which on arrival at the table (about 5 mins after insulin) had hot chocolate sauce poured over it. Result: a slow climb to about 11mmol and am now 7.1 and still going down.
I realise it must have been very good quality chocolate - but there was quite a lot of it! The ginger and pear must have contained quite a lot of sugar. Apart from the chips and chocolate there was very little fat. I must have totally overestimated the carbs, I suppose, but you do generally get quite good at guessing.
I expected to be hyper after eating out, but that's definitely not the case. In fact I think I'll be eating jelly babies soon - which will spoil the aftertaste of that luscious pudding.
I think I'll have to force myself to go there again and have the pudding again to see if the same thing happens.
Diabetes... logical? predictable?

Further research definitely required, you can't base any decisions on one experience 😉 Sounds like a lovely meal, hope you can get your levels stabilised 🙂

I should add - it's quite an event for me to eat two courses these days, not having the advantage of that storage area called a stomach! Now 5.1!
I don't often get it so spectacularly wrong! JBs here I come🙄

Sounds like a lovely meal
