The Government has not ruled out imposing a new contract on junior doctors if their dispute over new terms and conditions cannot be resolved in talks, Prime Minister David Cameron has said.

Mr Cameron said that giving up the option of imposing a contract would effectively hand a "veto" to the British Medical Association over the future development of the NHS.

Following a 24-hour walkout leading to the cancellation of around 4,000 operations last week, junior doctors are threatening two further strikes in their row over Government plans for more seven-day working.

Talks are under way to try to avert a 48-hour stoppage with the provision of emergency care only due to start on January 26, as well as a full withdrawal of labour, including emergency services, from 8am to 5pm on February 10.

This is sh*t. There hasn't been such sh*t since Scargill thought he could beat Maggie Thatcher. I think he's basing himself on her.

Thing is though - even though there thousands of British people affected by what ensued with the miners - there are MILLIONS of us this time - so this isn't him threatening the Junior Doctors - he's threatening every single person living in Britain whether they are Tory or Terrorist.

What concerns me is how little Hunt and Cameron (and any other stooge wheeled out to parrot the party line) are challenged on the illogicality of stretching limited resources over 7 days, which must inevitably mean there will be less cover during the week, plus there aren't the support staff and machines etc. for it to happen. Yes, they put the 24/7 service in their manifesto, but you can't just say it and whoosh! it happens - you have to fully resource and staff it, and they aren't putting a single extra penny into it :( They say most doctors will be better off financially, but how can that be when the contract is pay neutral i.e. no increase in the wage bill? Disgusting hypocrites, who know exactly what they are doing and what they intend to achieve :(
