Junior doctors' leaders are set to propose a series of five-day, all-out strikes every month for the rest of the year.

The BMA council will meet today to vote on the plans proposed by junior doctors committee chairwoman Dr Ellen McCourt.

The plans were leaked to the Daily Mail on Tuesday ahead of today’s meeting and later confirmed on social media by Dr McCourt who condemned the leak as a betrayal.

‘I will propose an ongoing programme of five consecutive days of 8am-5pm full walk-out [industrial action], starting in September, repeated every month,' wrote the chairwoman.

‘Whilst someone continues to betray our trust, put their own agenda first and risk our collective action to protect the careers of 50,000 junior doctors, the future of the medical workforce, and the NHS our patients demand, we remain professional and measured.

:( Wonder if Hunt has thought up any new statistics?

Playing straight into Jeremy Hunt's hands. Another nail in the coffin of NHS England and free healthcare.
