A junior doctor killed herself because of the despair she felt at her future in medicine, her family said.

Rose Polge, 25, died in February after walking out mid-shift from Torbay Hospital in south Devon.

She went into the sea in Torquay and her body was discovered two months later off the Dorset coast.

Miss Polge left a note in her abandoned car which contained personal messages to her distraught family and boyfriend - and a reference to Health Secretary Jeremy Hunt.

She supported the junior doctors' action against NHS reforms imposed by Hunt.

But her family - who also work in medicine - have revealed a greater insight into the troubles that led Miss Polge to take her own life.
