Joslin Diabetes Center has inked two research collaboration agreements that include a trio of pharmaceutical giants.
The Boston diabetes center has signed a multiyear research and development agreement with Janssen, a division of Johnson & Johnson, which will fund Joslin researcher Laurie Goodyear?s work for 18 months. Goodyear is researching drug candidates with the potential to mimic the positive impact of exercise on patients with diabetes, according to Dr. Nandan Padukone, Joslin?s vice president for commercialization and ventures.

Hmm... a drug that mimics exercise - may be good for those who can't exercise, but I would worry about it getting the same sort of uptake as slimming pills
