"I got to know classical music when I met my wife. Her dad [John] loves classical music and knows a lot about it..."

So said I when I wrote my piece about Pachelbel's Canon in D. I decided that I would like to listen to Rachmaninov's third piano concerto, Rachmaninov is one of John's favorite composers, so I looked it up on Spotify. The version that I found came in a package along with Prokofiev's second piano concerto. I thought, correctly as it turned out, that John wouldn't know this particular piece. My challenge to him was to identify the composer of a piece that he didn't know.

I made the comparison that I, as a veteran rock fan, could probably identify quite a few rock guitarists even from a guitar break that I didn't know. Eddie Van Halen, Jimi Hendrix, Brian May, Bill Nelson and Mark Knofler are all so distinctive as to not really represent a challenge. Others like Richie Blackmore, Mick Ronson, Stevie Ray Vaughan, The Black Sabbath guy who I can't remember the name of, I could probably take a reasonable stab at.

John Identified Prokofiev on his second guess.

Black Sabbath guy I think is Tommy Iommi (don't know if I have spelled it right). My husband is a big Sabbath fan.
He still has a souvenir programme from a 70s concert. The support act was the unknown Van Halen.
We both now share very eclectic tastes in music. Just about every genre from Classical,Rock, Jazz, R&B, Club, reggae, folk, country, modern and older pop music.
Never get bored listening as the music collection is so big now.( probably too big).
