Welcome Jen, I'm sure someone will be along soon soon with some helpful advice/thoughts 🙂 Sheena

Hi Jen, welcome to the forum 🙂 Great to hear that you've got a place on DAFNE. I haven't been on it myself - my PCT did a different course - but I 've only ever heard one person say they wish they hadn't gone on it, and many, many more say that it was one of the best things ever for their diabetes management. I hope that you fall into the latter category!

What insulin regime are you on? I'm guessing you've been struggling a bit with your control - is it highs or hypos you have problems with, or both? There's a great bunch of friendly, knowledgeable and experienced people here, so hopefully we can help you get things sorted. Please ask any questions you may have - nothing is considered 'silly', and you're not expected to know everything, so please ask if anything confuses or bothrs you. I look forward to hearing more from you 🙂

Hi Jen,

Welcome aboard! Not been on Daphne but have done Desmond and was informative. Good luck and look forward to hearing your report on it
🙂

Jen,

hi a warm welcome to the forum from me

Again not DAFNE herself, but one of her English cousins, based on BERTIE LOL

You willl NOT regret it. Muggins here thought she knew everything about T1 and carb counting after having it for 35 years.

She didn't LOL

I've always known what a 10g CHO boiled spud looked like, haven't I? But OK to humour you and take this seriously I WILL just weigh it .... more like 13g. And when you have 4 or so of them on your plate, that mounts up. Similarly I was convinced (until last year actually! 😱) that 2 slices of medium sliced Warburtons was 40g. It's usually much nearer 30g ...... because the slices are seldom as heavy as what it says on the packet an average slice is sposed to weigh .... tra la la.

And in any case there was nowt scientific and no rules aboiut the way 'we' always did it. Now there is and that's very comforting I find. And sick day rules and periods and coorection doses. All very sensible.

You'll love it - even though you already know some of it!

Hi Jen. Welcome 🙂

Yet another non-DAFNE person. 🙄

It sounds as though it's the best thing to do if you haven't perfected carb counting and correction doses. Meantime, you can pick the collective brains of the forum for anything else you might want to know.🙂

Rob

Hi Jen,
Welcome to you! 🙂
I have followed Dafne for about three years now.
I did a course for about five days in which time I met some brilliant people.
I have been on an insulin pump for two years.
Let me know how you get on and will help with any questions you may have.
I am sorry you are feeling fed up at the moment and I think everyone in our situation does from time to time.

Welcome to the forum Jen 🙂
