Hey all,
Thought I'd tell you about the JDRF Discovery Day I attended yesterday. I went with my charity PEDS (Ponies Educating Diabetics and Siblings) as a guest speaker. There were about 50 people who majority had Type 1 children. Also speaking was a guy called Derek Bockett who has had Type 1 for 60 years! such an amazing person and was recently given an award for it.
Just after my talk was Dr Haigh from Kalvista Pharmaceuticals based here in southampton. They are developing a new drug to help with diabetic retinopathy. It hits clincal trials early next year and is going to be tablet form and injectable. It sounds amazing at what it would be able to do after doctors see any early signs they reckon having this medication will keep it at bay.
