Hi all so I keep getting this message pop up on my testing machine (pictured) I live in a basement flat that’s poorly insulated so it’s always cold my question is. Does anyone else get this? Also if you have a Libra do you get these too? I was offered a Libra or dexcom I can’t remember but surely they wouldn’t be getting as cold as these so was going to phone to make a change as it’s getting annoying

If you use insulin, you need a BG meter even if you have a Constant Glucose Monitor (CGM). My Caresens meter is particularly susceptible to the cold and I find that popping it down my bra for 5mins makes it warm enough to work.
I have on very rare occasions had Libre fail to give a reading due to the cold but only when I have been out sleeveless in sub zero temps. Putting a warm hand over it for a few mins rejuvenates it to get a reading but that is a pretty extreme situation. Libre will fail to give a reading at other times though like when your levels are changing fast and often those are the times when you most need to know what your levels are, so having a reliable BG meter or having a means of keeping it warm in order to be able to use it, is important.

The wavesense jazz especially the mini one likes it to be around 20c before it will test. I have a cold flat too and always have to put it in my bra or between my hands or elbow or wherever for a bit before testing.
