Apart from the usual minor (for me anyway) irritations I have managed to get good readings on this drug. However, much as I wanted to and indeed need to, I appear to have lost 14/16lbs without any intervention apart from Covid 19 exercise allowed. Before starting on Jardiance I was around 12 stone and now 11 stone. Should I worry that it is too much to lose quickly?

Hello @Worried and welcome to the forum.
I do not have any knowledge of Jardiance, but there may be some other members along later that do know something of this.

Over what time period have you lost the 14/16lbs?

Thanks for your prompt reply, I have been taking the increased dose of 25 mg for about a month.

Losing over 5% of your body weight in 6 months is regarded as 'too quick' - so if you do that, you're supposed to consult your doctor. Hence - to be on the safe side - if I were you I would run it past my GP!

@Worried
Can you tell us a bit more about your diabetes diagnosis? ie How long have you been diagnosed and how you came to be diagnosed and what your HbA1c reading was at diagnosis and current BG readings if you monitor them?
The reason I ask is that unexpected rapid weight loss can be a symptom of Type 1 diabetes and it is not uncommon for older diabetics to be assumed to be Type 2 purely as a result of their age and HbA1c reading. Many GPs are not even aware that Type 1 can exhibit in adults and may just keep prescribing stronger Type 2 drugs when levels don't come down until eventually insulin is required. Getting the correct diagnosis is important and asking for Type 1 testing (GAD antibody and C-peptide tests) might be appropriate, so definitely worth discussing this weight loss with GP and/or asking for referral to consultant, although outpatient appointments are still on hold at this time.
