I have just been prescribed this - has anyone ever heard of it??
A bit more here too http://www.phlaunt.com/diabetes/18538604.php
Thanks for the help. It has made me very ill and I will go back to insulin until I talk to my doctor. It was working well re-blood sugar, however.
How long have you been taking them? I thought you only got them yesterday.
+ you should not stop taking a prescribed medicine and especially not revert to your old prescription without referring back to your GP. If you noticed an improvement in blood sugar readings on the new medicine then I presume you have been taking them for a while as Metformin takes several days to start working.
With regards to the supposed ill effects of Janumet/Januvia, Byetta etc written in Jenny Ruhl's pages that seem to have revolted you, I would refer you to a book by Ben Goldacre called 'Bad Science' (see his website here: http://www.badscience.net/)
Jenny Ruhl seems to scour the Internet looking for dubious studies that support her theories. I cannot see any mention of her scientific or medical qualifications and the studies I looked at that she quoted were not 'valid' as justification of their conclusion. The things she quotes seem to be in the same league as the reports of the ill effects of artificial sweeteners.
I started to take Janumet twice a day last Friday but I have been really sick - was in the hospital all day yesterday - thought I was having another heart attack. I am only slowly feeling a bit better since I didn't take a tablet today.
