Mary Burnett was convinced her late mother was looking down from heaven, proud of the time she was spending in a Carlisle jail cell.
?She would be honored to know I helped to combat the disease that took her away from us,? said Burnett of Taneytown, MD.
?Our whole organization is about people helping people,? she added. ?Anything we can do to help the less fortunate.?
The Fraternal Order of Eagles in Carlisle hosted a jail-a-thon Saturday that raised at least $23,763 for the FOE Robert W. Hansen Diabetes Fund.
