Tomorrow morning I'm attending a diabetes4wrd in Kidlington (Oxford).

Found it by chance following my check of the 15 point checklist on this site & it mentioned formal education.

I was diagnosed in Sept 10 my hubby a year earlier and nothing mentioned to either of us. Anyway a google search showed there is indeed a course. So I signed up.

A 3 hour workshop; looking fwd to it as I hope to get some pointers on reducing risk of complications (father currently in local renal ward; severe angina on Thursday/Friday meant they cancelled the op to have a fistula done and he is now facing an angioplasty early next week to hopefully improve the angina).

He has end stage renal failure & was diagnosed with type 2 15 years ago. I don't want to be facing the same in 15 years time so the more I can find out & inform myself can only help I hope.

I spoke to my GP on Monday for another matter but discussed my concerns, he went right through my test results & told me I had the kidneys of a 25 year old (I'm 52) so a bit reassured.

I hope to get to the Oxford meet next Saturday but this now depends on how dad is doing.

Simples hope you get all you can from the programme good luck with it.Best wishes to your father as well x

Hope to be able to see you at Oxford on Saturday 🙂

I hope you enjoy the course and find it very useful 🙂 A lot will have changed in the 15 years since your father was diagnosed, including much better access to education, and it's very encouraging that your kidneys are in good shape 🙂

I do hope that your father is feeling much stronger soon and that his operation can go ahead before too long 🙂

All the best for the course. Keep well

Enjoy the course.

Hope your Dad is feeling better soon
