After 42 years of being a type 1 diabetic i have decided to register. Reason being my Freestyle Libre patches are often not lasting the two week distance so I wondered how others are getting on with them. They are brilliant though and considering that I was reluctant about big brother watching me and there being no hiding place from how good my control is, its remarkable that I cant now imagine living without them! Will in the long run be cost effective by helping patients and care teams to achieve better results. U Rams.

Welcome to the forum, glad you found us. José the libre also and find it invaluable. It's great for heading off a hypo and recognising patterns. I dont really have trouble with them coming off all that much, so don't use anything, but hopefully someone will be along to suggest something.

Hi there and welcome 🙂

I use a Cutiderm patch over my sensor and I get the full fortnight out of them (unless they become inaccurate rather than to losing them lol)
xx

Hello and welcome @Ian Kirk, glad you've joined us 🙂

Good to hear how useful you have found the Libre. I can remember feeling that there was no hiding place from the 24hr data when I first started using a pump then cgm but very soon couldn't do without it. A big change from paper record books and visually interpreting/ guessing urine test/blood test results!

I hope you are able to find a suitable adhesive for the Libre, there are patches available from numerous online shops -Amazon, ebay , funky pumpers etc if you type in Libre patches/stickers eg

Welcome to the forum @Ian Kirk

Some people find a skin prep treatment like ‘skin tak’ is helpful to keeping sensors and other devices attached.

Different skin types seem to have more problems keeping Libre attached than others, while for some the challenge is crowbar-ing the sensor off after 14 days!

Do you use the alcohol wipes? And let the skin properly dry for a good couple of minutes before application?

I also tend to find that it takes about 12-24 hours for the adhesive to come up to full strength, so it pays to be a bit careful with the sensor during that time.
