Relationship to Diabetes
Type 1
Evening,

I’m Andy, 38 years old, 27 years in the Type 1 Diabetes game, was once handed a satsuma when first diagnosed and told to practice injections on it which I replied with how do you know the satsuma is a diabetic!?

The 24/7 challenge of the condition has its ups and downs but I try my best, it’s not always good enough but HbA1c is good and the pump therapy isn’t just a life changer it’s a life saver in my opinion.

I work offshore which has its challenges but hey who doesn’t want multiple challenges!?

Nice to be here and looking forward to getting involved in some sugar related discussions because it’s all about the sugar!!

Hi @AndyYates and welcome, glad you’ve joined us.

Ah yes that poor orange/satsuma being injected by newly diagnosed Type 1’s. I don't know what it taught me!

I hope your diabetes has been kind to you over the years. Good to hear using a pump has been so beneficial to you. Do you have stringent requirements for working offshore with Type1?

Are you using Libre or cgm with your pump?

There’s plenty of years experience of living with Type 1 on here. Look forward to reading your posts.

Working offshore is a challenge but to be honest I’m in a management position so physically not tested but I wasn’t aware of the mental strain and impact on my diabetes until recently but overall it’s an amazing place to work.

I’m using the Medtronic 670g CGM which is fantastic looking forward to the next upgrade!! Haha

I do enjoy writing so may use this as a forum to spill my ramblings!!

Welcome to the forum @AndyYates from another Medtronic pump user.

Mine is the 780 and I self fund the sensors so that I can run it as a closed loop system. It has had a massive positive impact on my diabetes, especially on my mental health. It has removed a lot of the burden I was experiencing, and I can totally forget about Diabetes at times.

I look forward to hearing of your ramblings.

Welcome to the forum @AndyYates

My last pump was a MM640, but I switched to the tSlim rather than opting for 670 or 780 (in part because I felt I wasn’t getting on quite so well with the G3 sensors as I had with Enlites).

And yup! I know just what you mean about the ups and downs 😉😛
