Hi all,

My partner has diabetes and we are self funding a Libre for him. He is quite anxious about the way his blood sugar dips up and down, even though it is usually within range. I believe that this is normal but he is still worried. Both of us were curious about what my blood sugar was like and how it compares to the readings he sees, so we decided that I’d try out one of the sensors. I was hoping he’d be able to see that my blood sugar looks quite similar to his and feel a bit less anxious.

However, I can’t make my phone connect to the sensor at all. When I hold it over the sensor when prompted by the app, nothing happens. I’ve tried turning the phone off and on again, checking that Bluetooth is enabled for the LibreLink app and uninstalling and reinstalling the app. I’ve also downloaded an app which checks that NFC is working, which it is. Does anyone have any other suggestions?

I really want to help him feel better and I’m also aware that if this doesn’t work, it’s essentially £50 down the toilet!

@CMH you are correct that everyone's BG rises and falls throughout the day. If you Google something like Libre graphs you will see examples from people without diabetes, including students and athletes as well as some from people with diabetes.
Typically, when we have problems scanning the sensor with our phones it is a case of locating the NFC receiving within our phone. Unfortunately, the location varies by type of phone. I believe it is always on the back of the phone and often near the top and the phone needs to be pretty much touching the sensor (although it works through clothes, including a jacket).
If you have tried slowly moving the phone around to locate the receiving and failed, Abbott should replace the sensor. You can call them or complete the online form. Do not just email them - they do not seem to reply to random emails.

Thanks @helli ! That’s really helpful. Unfortunately still no luck so I’ll get in touch with Abbott

Hello,

You wouldn’t happen to have a flip case for your phone with a bank card in the cover?
This can mess up NFC readings if folded over the back of the phone.
