A WOMAN with diabetes is putting her health at risk by riding across India to raise money for charity.

Isabelle Masters, 24, from Woodside Park, flew to Delhi yesterday to begin her epic journey to Jaipur, the capital of Rajasthan, on Sunday.

So far she has raised more than ?3,000 for Diabetes UK, a charity that supports people suffering from the condition. The charity worker has type 1 diabetes and needs regular insulin injections in order to maintain normal blood sugar levels and she said this could make the six-day cycle through the subcontinent tougher for her than her fellow cyclists.

Riding for up to eight hours a day in temperatures that could reach 30 degrees and travelling a total of 430 kilometres, the 16-strong team will take in a diverse range of landscapes, including desert, busy cities, forts and rural villages.
