I am 63
I was diagnosed pre-diabetic about 1 year ago
A couple of tests at 46
Then the dreaded 48 about 14 weeks ago...

I said I have to do something about it so....

Stopped
white bread
cakes
biscuits
sweets
chocolate
and anything that has obvious high sugar content

I started to eat a few green vegs - (first time in my life)

Most days I don't eat until lunch time

My treats now are
an occasional ice cream
mixed nuts
95% dark chocolate (just a couple of pieces)
Even an occasional bag of crisps

I have lost 11Lbs - without even trying

Just had my first BG test .... 45 (don't think this is remission yet) (or is it???)

It will be very interesting the next test in 3 months
Because I think I can happily survive with what I eat and not feel hungry or overly 'missing out'

And it will be interesting at what point my weight will level out...

I'm American, so I'd have to pull out my calculator to figure out what 45 is in our scale of measurement. What I can tell you is that the definition of remission is 3 months at non diabetic levels. There is a more precise def. at the top of this forum. I would add that it is your weight loss, even more than what you eat, that will bring your numbers in line long term, although what you eat is what is going to help you get your weight down. I believe your weight is the thing, is my point.
