I woke up to a waking reading of 4.2 this morning - last 2 days have been in the 4's as opposed to usual low 5's - isthis something I should be concerned about...

I'm not sure what my readings was at bedtime but I do know that after Sunday dinner including stuffing (yum yum) it was 6.2. 🙂

No, that's perfectly acceptable for someone not on medication Amanda 🙂 Non-Ds can go down to 3.5 and be perfectly fine. Because you are not on any medication that might send you lower, you don't need to worry about levels in the 4s 🙂 Certainly something to raise at your appointment for reassurance 🙂

Thank you for the re-assurance; I'm scared of going lower in my sleep. I'm assuming my weight loss is helping with my sugars..xx 🙂

I had some 3.8s Amanda, just for a week or so and now it seems to have settled down into the high 4s, at midmorning time. I think perhaps its the diet we are on and we seem to be shadowing each other which is comforting really.🙂

As far as I'm aware Amanda, you'd be very very unlikely to go below the normal minimum for a non-diabetic unless your pancreas is over-active, which I think is hyper-insulinism, which is a separate condition.

Obviously, only your doctor can confirm if you would or not, but unless you have any reason to believe you're going to go properly hypo (less than 3-ish?) then you can sleep soundly knowing you've cracked it with exercise, weight loss and diet changes.🙂

If you google the lowest BG for non-diabetics, you should be reassured that you're within those ranges.

Thank you; I should be pleased but I wish they we're in the high 4s - anything less is making me paranoid....😱 Have my HbA1c result next week; keeping fingers crossed its lower than the 7 the DN wants - I'd be happy with whatever I've been able to achieve in 3 months. 🙂

Thank you - its because I've never had a 4 in the morning before; had a 4.8 a couple of times before dinner...makes me anxious but I suppose I should be happy considering some people have much higher readings all the time...

I bet you had loads of 4s before you were diagnosed (maybe not just before though!) - you just weren't aware of them because you didn't test! 🙂

A healthy, fit, non-diabetic person should be waking on those sorts of levels. Especially if they were eating as sensibly as you obviously are.

I'm sure many non-Ds would be in the high 3s on waking but wouldn't have a clue other than feeling hungry and a bit weak. Which is probably quite normal for most people first thing ! :D

I wish my DN was as understanding and supportive as you - you're a star 🙄
