Type 2
Hi. I posted back in November when I was newly diagnosed with type 2 and lots of members gave me some valuable information. I would like to pick your brains again! I have managed to lose 30lb since then by sticking to a no sugar, low carb diet. I had my Metformin changed to slow release 6 days ago as I was suffering from dreadful diarrhoea (including 2 incidents of faecal incontinence) I am now starting with symptoms of a 'fuggy head', hungry all the time and a dry throat and thirsty all the time. This is how I was before I was diagnosed. I was wondering if it was because I need to give my meds longer to kick in or should I go back to my GP? I'm on 500mg twice a day.

I found the the SR Metformin does take a bit longer to establish itself. So give it a little while. Do you have a meter to monitor yourself?

No monitor but thank you for the reassurance. I will give it another week and see how it goes.

Metformin did the same to me - except more frequently. I am far happier without it. I just gave it up before Christmas 2016 as I felt so dreadful and life was not worth living.
I do not know what it is supposed to do to benefit us, but I'd far rather live as I am than wander around in a daze wearing a nappy for the rest of my life.
