Hi all, I feel a bit of a fraud posting on here as I have not been diagnosed with diabetes.

My name is Sam and I am 28. I am slightly overweight. Probably about 1 and 1/2 stone out of the healthy bmi for my height.

Basically I went to the doctors as I have been feeling a lack of energy over the past 12 months or so. Then I had the odd dizzy spell so went to get checked out.
She suggested possibly that I was anaemic or my thyroid may be a problem so sent me for a blood test, that was 21st July.

A week after the blood test I had a letter saying there had been a problem at the lab and i needed to have my test redone. So last week (11th August) I went and had another one. This test was horrible as I nearly passed out in the doctors as she was taking the blood.
So I rang the doctors this morning for my result and the receptionist mumbled something about something being normal then said oh, hang on Hba1c needs to be tested again.
So i booked it in and didn't think anything of it. I assumed it was maybe the test for anaemia. Then I googled it and found out what the test is actually for. I then went to work but now I am stressing about it and worried they think I have diabetes and are just checking again.
I will phone the doctors to speak to them tomorrow afternoon to get a clearer picture but was just wandering what other people's thoughts are on this?

Many thanks

HbA1c is a lab test which gives a rough average of blood glucose over last few months. A sensible check, as diabetes is one of many things that can cause tiredness / fatigue. Usually, several bottles of blood can be taken from a single needle, but sometimes there's not enough in a bottle or something goes wrong at lab, so more blood had to be taken. Annoying. If you do have raised HbA1c, there's lots you can do to improve, such as reducing carbohydrate in diet, increasing exercise levels and reducing bodyweight if you are overweight.

Has she not told you the winning lottery nos ? ( sorry it was the title of post, Hope you get sorted sam31 & welcome)
