Hi i have type 2 for 10 years now and a bus driver
My license is only valid for 3 years and i have to have my medical next year
i was told there is a good and bad medicine list
i was put on Gliclazide 80mg a month ago which has brought down my blood levels down great but i was told that this is on the DVLA bad medicine list can anyone help me as i have a meeting with my diabetic nurse tomorrow and need to see what is best for me

thanks in advance

If you go to the DVLA site re medical conditions and click on diabetes it will tell you your responsibilities which include informing the DVLA about the type of medication you are on as the rules are different for bus/HGV drivers.

I have been on their website and searched high and low but there is no list of what is good medicines in their eyes and what they don't like
This is why i have come here for advice on where to find that list (website link or list)
please help the sooner I get the list the sooner I can go to the nurse to sort out the right medication
By the way the DVLA know my condition that i am type 2 this is why my license is vaild for 3 years
Thanks again

Hi, welcome to the forum.
I found this
https://assets.publishing.service.g...vers-with-diabetes-treated-by-non-insulin.pdf

As far as I know diabetes medications for class 1 drivers (car and motorcycles) their is no bad diabetic medications though their are some they do need to be notified about but this won’t prevent you from driving, they are mostly concerned about severe hypo’s where you needed assistance .

Different rules apply to class 2 drivers

I don't know about bad. They do have rules about levels and testing, if you're on medication that can cause hypos. I believe this includes Gliclazide. (I don't drive nor take gliclazide.)
