Hi everyone,
I saw my GP today re the extreme tiredness and itchy skin, she has given me a form to have a blood test to check my thyroid.
What confused me though was that she told me she wanted to change my statin from simvastatin to simvador. I really should have asked her why, but didn't think to. I thought simvastatin was the cheapest to prescribe, any one got any ideas as to why she would want me to change to simvador. Would be grateful.

According to the BNF, Simvador is just a brand of Simvastatin

Thanks Alan, that is what i thought. Wonder why GP wanted to change it.

Is it a different strength perhaps? Hope that the thyroid test helps explain your tiredness (not that I would want to wish another condition on you, but you know what I mean! 😉)

In case you'd like to check any medicine details yourself, the BNF (British National Formulary) website at www.bnf.org is free to use, once you've registered. Available in 10mg and 80mg tablets.
