After seeing alot of posts of people cutting down on suger but eating alot of carbs thinking though no flaut if thier own it's all about suger. I mean come on isn't a simple place if information to give that carbs convert to suger.

I know it doesn't effect me as a type 1 and was told about the what converted to suger the fustarttion is for others.

I know some of the reason might be informed doctors and nurses themselves(before I saw I Dsn in the hospital I asked a nurse "is Thier anything I can't eat now(not being aware yet what my new live entailed) her reply was "you'll just have to eat suger free stuff"). But that's a problem in itself l

Sorry rant over

Well said, I totally agree. Some Nurses and GP's need extra training. I have had to educate myself

No, it is important! Mashed potato (all starch) raises my BG as fast as ice cream (sugar). When I was diagnosed all those years ago my bewildered parents were given a booklet of Exchanges (for 10gm CHO). GI (Glycemic Index) had not been invented then. Telling them this is vital to future health and wellbeing. Telling them about sugar only is just bizarre!

To be honest, have had so much duff info from dsn now i will take info from them with caution...luckily with our cgms we CAN 'do our own research' where bs management is concerned
