I have been diagnosed as having iron deficiant anaemia. For a while I have been having pains in my muscles, been very lethargic, very short of breath and a few other things. I have been prescribed sytron Could anaemia alter the hb wotsit reading? I really hope the sytron acts quickly.

Yes it can have an effect on your HBa1C. I had a reading of 31 a while ago and had a transfusion and a course of Iron tablets. Currently a bit low again. Investigations ongoing.
I hope the sytron works for you.

Yes - they are sposed to test fructosamine instead if you're anaemic as HbA1c measurements are false.

The Sytron won't work that quickly because it takes some time for the body to accumulate the iron. It depends to a degree on how anaemic you are. Have any investigations been done as to why you are anaemic?
