Hello everyone - my son was diagnosed in 2017 with epilepsy to go with his Type 1, diagnosed in 2009. By the time the epilepsy was diagnosed (the seizures were put down to “badly managed diabetes” by the medics) his frontal lobe was slightly damaged, leaving him with severe memory problems. In fact, the breakthrough came via a kind person in DiabetesUK who messaged me to say his symptoms were not caused by diabetes and to seek further help. I’m hoping to find ’a buddy’ who has both conditions.

Hello @Lyndsey A ,

Thank you so much for joining our online support forum. I am so sorry to hear about your son and that he was misdiagnosed as in him not managing his diabetes. I can only imagine the stress that has caused with you and your family. However, I am glad to hear the breakthrough was someone within the organisation. I don't know many people on the forum who may have similar experiences, but I have found a search with the term epilepsy and some dedicated pages on the forum that you could reach up on. The link is below:

Welcome to the forum @Lyndsey A

Sorry to hear about your son’s diagnosis, but pleased that he now has appropriate treatment. As Josh said I am not aware of anyone else on here in your son’s position but we will happily support you and your son with any questions that you have with regard to Diabetes.

Feel free to ask any questions that you have. No questions are considered silly on here.
Just ask.

Welcome to the forum @Lyndsey A 🙂

I can’t think of any one who currently frequents the forum who has both T1 and epilepsy, but hopefully if anyone does they will answer on your other thread.

Hope you find some useful pointers in Josh’s search results.
