Hi

Just introducing myself. I was diagnosed with Type 2 at Easter. I went through a very rough patch at first and had no family support which I found (and still find) hard. Now coming out the other side and have finally got to the point where it isnt the first thing I think about each morning. I do feel quite lonely at times and it would be lovely to have others to just share my thoughts with.

Hi Piccassolover, welcome to the forum 🙂 Diabetes can be an isolating condition as it is not really understood by people who don't have to deal with it, but you will find many like-minded souls here who will be happy to answer your questions and share their experiences with you 🙂

Are you on any medication for your diabetes?

Hi

When I was first diagnosed my blood was really high - about 25. I was put on Metformin which made me feel really rough, so I had to stop taking it. I really didn't want to take any medication anyway. Hard to explain but it was very important for me to try and control it myself. Having done a lot of research into diet and getting my trusty bike out again, I have now managed to reduce it down to 7.8 without any medication. I feel a lot better than I have for a long time and enjoying a varied and more healthy diet.
 
Great to hear that you've made some good progress with your levels. Onward and downward!

Are you funding your own strips?
