I have started using the patches and found they help reduce the risk of dislodging the sensor. Before I started using the patches I'd usually get a sensor fail by day 8! What other advice are you looking for?

Hi Brucie
I was just wondering if the sensor still works OK through the patch? I have used patches with the feature cut out but not the ones that totally cover the sensor.
Libre advise not covering the centre of the sensors.
I work in very humid conditions which means that the normal adhesion on the sensor isn't enough. I have purchased some not just a patch patches

I haven't had any issues with connectivity and phone. I must confess I was unaware about the covering of centre not recommended. oops

Hi Brucie, well if it works for you then I might just stick on a patch and find out.
Thanks for your help.

Welcome to the forum @Nicolajayne

Have you had problems with Libre sensors coming loose?

I never found it necessary to add any extra patches or adhesives over my Libre sensors

We have a few members who have found patches helpful, but it does seem to depend slightly on skin type

Some others use tapes like hypafix or opsite.

There are lots of options!

Yes I have had a few problems, I think it is because I work in very humid conditions doing physical work, in a care home, mostly in the laundry
At the moment I have to pay for my sensors as I only inject once a day, so I am happy to try anything to help with adhesion.
I have put a new sensor on today and applied some Skin Glu first.

Are you not just claiming a replacement for any that come off early?

Hi Lucyr, I only found out about this a couple of days ago so no I hadn't claimed, but I will do in future.
Although I have just been referred to the diabetes team at the hospital by my doctor as he thinks my insulin needs have changed, I am hoping that I will then be able to get the sensors on prescription.

I use an arm strap to protect my Libre and help the adhesive get the best hold possibly. It is effectively a 3D printed plastic watch face which fits exactly around the circumference of the sensor and is held in place with an adjustable elastic band. You can get them in a variety of colours from flesh tone to loud and proud neons. I haven't lost a sensor in the 3 years I have been using it although I have pinged the strap on clothing a few times. I got mine off ebay but other online shopping sites also have them.
The hole in the centre is important for skin health because it allows the skin under the sensor to breath and vent any moisture through that hole. If you use the covers without a hole you should poke a hole in it.

The Sensor patches are not accurate. The company says it takes at least 10 mins between readings, but are not always accurate. If you get any low readings, you should check with a blood test. I have had Type 1 Diabetes for 54 years that is why I phoned them and that was answer given by Abbotts. So please take care. This does not apply to all so just check if you get lows or low readings like 3-0 or below.
