Probably already known to many, but I can heartily recommend 'raw' jelly cubes (the concentrated stuff from before you make it up).

Very high in sugar (68g per 100g), very tasty, an extremely satisfying texture, and as an added extra bonus, it makes your hands smell absolutely delicious!

In a separate note, I have also discovered that even when it's the week before payday and cash is tight, you really should still keep the kitchen well stocked. Otherwise you might find yourself in an archeological expedition to the back of the cupboard and eating God knows what when you decide you can't face glucose tablets again.😳

Someone gave us some Kendal Mint Cake once, I don't really like it but that's quite good for hypos, "Cake" is a bit of a misnomer as it's more like a compressed lump of sugar and syrupy stuff...
Also get in a bottle of sugary squash, whatever flavour takes your fancy, and drink it neat if you need a quick cure! A bit unscientific and easy to over treat though... 😱

Jelly is good for a hypo and as a bonus almost never develops mould so you can keep it in the back of the cupboard for at least ten years as an emergency, survive the apocalypse/nuclear explosion type food. The other apocalypse survival staple, condensed milk, is less effective I found so I can't recommend that 🙂

survive the apocalypse/nuclear explosion type food
Cockroaches may be another option, though I'm not sure if they would be good for hypo's......

Yuk, raw jelly. 😱 I remember eating it as a kid and not liking it. It's the texture. But if it brings joy to your hypos, who am I to criticise?o_O

Yeah, but speaking as a person who loves 'raw' jelly - trouble is no it does not last for a thousand years at the back of the cupboard - not after the sellophane was first breached anyway. Lucky to last me half an hour!

Soooo - I stopped buying it in 1973 approx.!

Can't stand jelly myself, but my godson loves a pudding I made once for a school project he was doing (custard jelly belly, in the form of a rabbit!). Hence there is nearly always jelly in a cupboard and since I never buy juice, sugar, fruit etc when young nephew had secretly raided the jelly baby jar, the jelly was all there was. It's actually more pleasant than a jelly baby because there's less chewing required. For reasons known only to my brain, when hypo chewing is a task I seem unable to cope with, I have great respect for people who can manage to crunch their way through glucose tabs but it's a task too arduous for kooky hypo jaw (hmm wonder if that's related to the transient neuropathy in the jaw...sheesh that hurt!). Maple syrup does a cracking job too, but it has a certain medicinal quality when lapping by the teaspoon 🙄
