Interesting chart

There is some great info on that site. This is a good chart, but looking at the serving sizes, I could not eat 150g of rice, diabetic or not. I suppose these are based on the American version of portion sizes.

Well make your own, assuming you own a metal grater - though if you have a food processor grating anything hard becomes easier, apart from the washing up of course.

I look at the prices of the prepared, pre-packed veg and always blench. Ridiculous when you only need a knife!

I do own a metal grater but they aren’t grated at all. They’re cut into mini dice. Very difficult to get right and I’m not lazy when it comes to cooking otherwise I would

But I agree about pricing of preprepared veg. Just a shame this one is so small as nearly sliced my finger off trying to get it right

Have to say - not a thing I've tried to do since they're so ruddy difficult to peel in the first place they're so ruddy hard - so I see what you mean. Lucky for me I can still eat rice then. If I needed it I am also fortunate in having No 1 daughter, a chef with the full set of knives at her disposal at home and in their caravan as well as at work. I still think that a food processor might do it, because if you use the grater in that, the grated bits of the food are shorter and less thin than when you hand grate them. Not 'slivers' at all.

I do cauli rice in the food processor.

Firstly I used a grating blade, feeding through the tube, but actually I now find it better done in the food processor bolw, with the general chopping blade. Best not to do too much at in any batch or the chop can be uneven, with some almost a pulp before it's fully done.

I just empty the smaller batches into a bowl whilst I do the next lot.

It takes moments and the food processor really only needs a bit of a rinse out (as opposed to a lot of wiping or rubbing) to clean.

Yes that’s my next plan of action to pulse very large chunks in processor and see how I go

I think cauli works fine in the processor due to its texture. If only I ate it 🙂
